Lauryn Hill & TIDAL Will Throw a Festival This Week
Diaspora Calling! will celebrate African artists and musicians.

Lauryn Hill recently announced a three-day charity festival in association with TIDAL X called Diaspora Calling! It will take place tonight through Friday at Brookyln’s King’s Theater and it will feature performances from African artists as well as visual art exhibitions. Performers include Hill, Trinidad’s Machel Montano, Jamaica’s Stephen “Ragga” Marley, Ghana’s Stonebwoy and more. Tonight, a private opening will take place featuring music from DJ Spinna, DJ Juls and more. Check out for the poster and read Hill’s statement about the festival:
“Diaspora Calling! is a collection of works intended to celebrate the rich tapestry of artists from the African Diaspora while also illumining persistent and irrepressible themes… Even if we work independently, we are a resounding collective voice, both reconciling and embracing our relationship to history, our origins, our future and to ourselves.”
