Beyoncé is currently suing a Texas company called Feyonce Inc. for selling merchandise that uses the name “FEYONCÉ” and sometimes, lyrics from her music. The filed complaint accuses the company of selling products on their shop site that resemble her artist name. She claims that the bootlegs damage her brand and defendants have neglected her requests to cease and desist from selling their products, which include shirts, sweaters, hoodies and more. The lawsuit states:

“Defendants adopted the Feyonce mark to call to mind Beyonce and her famous song. Defendants’ conduct described herein is intentional, fraudulent, malicious, willful and wanton. Seeking to capitalize on the notoriety of ‘Single Ladies,’ with its famous lines ‘put a ring on it,’ Defendants are selling merchandise bearing the ‘FEYONCÉ’ mark — a misspelling of ‘fiancé’ intended to call to mind Beyoncé and her famous song. Some of Defendants’ merchandise even bear the lyrics ‘put a ring on it’ further solidifying the connection between Beyoncé and the unauthorized products.”
