Barack and Michelle Obama Will Speak at SXSW 2016
It’s the first time a sitting President and First Lady are involved with the event in 30 years of SXSW history.

Austin, Texas’s South by Southwest (SXSW) has announced that President Barack Obama will be a guest speaker at Keynote Conversation at SXSW Interactive on Friday, March 11. First Lady Michelle Obama will be the opening Keynote at SXSW Music on Wednesday, March 16. In 30 years of SXSW history, this is the first time a sitting President and First Lady are involved with the event. President Obama will sit down with The Texas Tribune Editor in Chief for a conversation about civic engagement. Michelle will talk about the Let Girls Learn initiative, which aims to aid the 62 million girls in the world who aren’t in school. President Obama’s session is open to all SXSW Interactive, Gold, and Platinum registrants; Michelle Obama’s is open to all SXSW Music, Film, Gold, and Platinum registrants.
