Netflix Drops Lead Trailer for '80s Hip-Hop Biopic 'Roxanne Roxanne'
One of the 2017 Sundance standouts.
Netflix has unveiled the lead trailer for its forthcoming ’80s hip-hop biopic Roxanne Roxanne. Based on the rise of Queens rap icon Roxanne Shante, Roxanne Roxanne received some serious critical acclaim and attention at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
The film stars Chante Adams as Roxanne Shante, who earned a special jury prize for her standout performance. Roxanne Roxanne is written and directed by Michael Larnell and produced by Pharrell Williams, Forest Whitaker, Mimi Valdes and Nina Yang Bongiovi — it also stars Academy Award-winning Moonlight actor Mahershala Ali, Nia Long, Elvis Nolasco, Kevin Phillips, Adam Horovitz — of Beastie Boys fame — and Shenell Edmonds.
You can check out the new trailer for Netflix’s Roxanne Roxanne above, and expect the movie to hit the streaming service on March 23. Earlier this week, Netflix also released new teasers for the Jared Leto flick The Outsider and a Lost in Space reboot.
