Scott Campbell Carves New Sculptures Using US Dollar Bills For First Asia Show
Entitled “Using All The Freedoms We Have.”
Globally-renowned tattoo artist and sculptor Scott Campbell will soon launch his first-ever solo exhibition in Asia. Entitled “Using All The Freedoms We Have,” the presentation — to be located at Over The Influence gallery in Hong Kong — will spotlight Campbell’s new sculptures entirely carved out of US dollar bills. With these new pieces, the artist aims to cast a light on “the vanitas themes seen in 17th-century Dutch religious paintings,” said the OTI. The works also employ visuals of memento mori subjects such as laser-cut skulls into the American currency. Altogether, Campbell explores the transient nature of humanity’s relationship with love and wealth.
