Rdio Is Shutting Down

Nearly a month ago, Rdio announced that it would be acquired from Pandora for $75 million. Now, the streaming service has revealed that it will be shutting down. According to an email sent to subscribers, it reads: “As part of the acquisition, the Rdio service will be shutting down worldwide on December 22, 2015 at approximately 5PM PST.” Until then, subscribers can keep listening to the free ad-supported version of Rdio and use the “Farewell” feature to revisit their past activity on the platform before it’s terminated a week from now. Who knows, it might just come back as a Pandora-powered service in the future.
