Sade has surprised us by dropping a new song titled “The Big Unknown.” The latest single from the R&B songstress was written for Steve McQueen’s upcoming thriller Widows, starring Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Erivo.

“Over a series of conversations with Sade, Steve McQueen encouraged her to dig deep within to write a song about loss and survival. The song ‘The Big Unknown’ speaks to the film’s spirit, but upholds the classic hallmarks of her sound, and stands out as another bold and brilliant work from the legendary songstress,” states the release.

Sade appears to be steadily unveiling more projects, as she released her first song in seven years with “Flower of the Universe” for A Wrinkle in Time back in March. Bandmate Stuart Matthewman also confirmed earlier this year that a new studio album was in the works.
