Miguel Mixes Protests & Desert Trips For "Told You So" Video
‘War & Leisure’ is less than a month away.
Earlier this year, Miguel revealed plans for his new studio album War & Leisure; to introduce the LP, he also dropped its lead single, “Told You So.” With the weekend upon us, the popular singer-songwriter swiftly follows up his recent record with its accompanying visual.
Following in the same politically-charged vein as its audio, the “Told You So” vignette features a mix of scenes featuring its desert-wandering creator and montages of protest footage. As Miguel previously explained, listeners can expect his entire new project to carry the same sort of sentiment; from immigration to the justice system, Miguel is planning to tackle several rough topics. “You start to see the real reason behind innocent people’s lives being ruined — it’s just money. The corporations are getting money from cheap labor, essentially,” Miguel says of immigrant detention centers.
You can check out Miguel’s video for “Told You So” above, while War & Leisure is scheduled to arrive on December 1. As we reported earlier today, Miguel also teamed up with Pleasures to create a new line of merchandise for his forthcoming LP.
Last week, Miguel made an appearance on west coast act OverDoz.’s long-awaited debut album and cooked up the lead single for Disney’s Coco campaign and soundtrack.
