After releasing two earlier SOLARHU capsules — including one referencing East African flags – adidas Originals and Pharrell Williams have continued the theme for Fall/Winter 2018. The latest SOLARHU drop also takes inspiration from East Africa, and is designed as a reimagining of traditional weaving patterns.
The stand-out element of the collection is the footwear, with four new colorways of the collaborative Hu NMD. Coming in “Power Blue” and “Clear Blue” as well as classic black and white tones, the sneakers feature a brightly colored printed collar designed to reference traditional East African weaving. Each colorway is then finished with the words “Empower” and “Inspire” embroidered in Chinese lettering across the primeknit upper.
The capsule’s apparel element also features bold pattern detailing, as well as back and chest graphics as a nod to the numbers worn by long distance runners. The apparel pieces are then finished with “Empower” and “Inspire” piping to reference the collection’s theme of transforming lives through sport. The full capsule of apparel and footwear will be available from the adidas web store and select retailers like HBX November 10.
This isn’t Pharrell’s only collaboration, with a joint Chanel capsule also on the way.
