T.I. Addresses Social Media Activism With 'United We Stand'
A powerful spoken word performance speaking out against today’s social apathy.

In a day and age where social media rules everything around us, it is often easy to forget that activism counts for more than just a tweet or a new follower. During Saturday’s 2015 Triumph Awards, T.I. took to the stage to offer a powerful spoken word performance titled “United We Stand.” Aimed at providing an introspective glance at the current state of “hashtag activism” where people are more concerned with their own digital presence and in turn diluting the cause they are trying to advocate. With #BlackLivesMatter garnering more attention by the day, Tip urges people to not only rely on passively posting/sharing to incite change, but to be proactive about it. He reminds us that we are the people who lost their lives to injustice by citing Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner and Sandra Bland. The poem is scheduled to air on TV One today.
