SpaceX’s first attempt at a land landing on the West Coast.
Videos of the launch as seen from the public have now begun to surface online.
SpaceX‘s first ever land landing attempt on the West Coast will be taking place soon, and will be made available for steaming. Set for October 7 at 7:21 p.m. PDT, or October 8 at 2:21 UTC, the launch will see the Falcon 9 transport the SAOCOM 1A satellite into low Earth orbit, where the SAOCOM 1A satellite will be deployed just 12 minutes after launch. Following the separation, the Falcon 9 is scheduled for a safe return to SpaceX’s SLC-4E Landing Zone — originally an Atlas launch pad that was activated in 1962.
Those fortunate enough to be in Southern California will be able to witness the launch that’s taking place at the Vandenberg Air Force Base, and hopefully catch a glimpse of the sonic boom. Elon Musk has already jokingly Tweeted, “Sonic boom warning. This won’t be subtle.”
