GL - Number One
“I felt like we were in some sort of Edward Scissorhands suburbia.”

Originating from Melbourne, Australia come Ella Thomspon and Graeme Pogson, or otherwise known as the dreamy synth-pop duo GL. Making waves with their Love Hexagon EP last year, the pair plan to release their debut album next with the glistening, 80’s tinged singe “Number One” leading the forefront. Accompanying comes the surrealistic visual helmed by director Annelise Hickey. On the music video GL shared:
We wanted to make something that had a slightly surreal narrative, colour and movement are very much a part of the story. Many great moments were captured by chance, like when brothers Rhys and Louis were chasing the family chicken on the tennis court and the director Annelise Hickey decided to film it because the chicken matched their hair colour. I felt like we were in some sort of Edward Scissorhands suburbia. The song is kind of about idolizing perfection, the video is like a visual dream sequence interpretation of that.
Watch “Number One” above and catch them on tour supporting Chet Faker later this year.
