Union LA & adidas Spezial Celebrate 1980s Hip-Hop Culture With New Capsule
“Union Spezial Crew.”
After dropping its “Acid Winter” pack earlier this year, adidas Spezial has collaborated with Union LA on a small capsule collection. The capsule builds on Spezial’s focus on archive and heritage, as well as its championing of UK sub cultures in the mid to late 1980s. For this release, Union has looked at what was going on in the US at the same time.
The resulting collection takes inspiration from the early hip-hop scene, and features co-branded tracksuits, T-shirts and sneakers. The phrases “Union Spezial Crew” appears throughout the collection, with the chosen font a subtle reference to this period in hip-hop. The full Union x adidas Spezial capsule will release via the Union web store and Los Angeles location on October 19.
