Snapchat Adds Links, Backdrops & Voice Filters
New creative tools are here.
Snapchat, the successful image messaging social media site, has updated its app. The update includes a few new features for iOS and Android users, according to TechCrunch. By adding a tool called “Paperclip,” users can attach a website url to a Snap, so their friends can open the site in another browser. The feature was previously exclusive for advertisement campaigns and companies found on the Discover tab. All of the shared links will have to be congruent with Snapchat’s terms of service, community guidelines, and privacy policy however.
The other additions — Backdrop and Voice Filters — deal directly with the content being created. Backdrop allows you to cut out items from your Snap and place it into another Snap where you can add a variety of creative patterns in the background. Voice Filters however doesn’t need much of an explanation.
Snapchat’s new additions should allow the app to remain competitive in the social media space. In the past month, the company has added custom geofilters, and the Snap Map. Look for its rivals to create similar tools in the near future. Until then, update your Snapchat app and enjoy the new tools.
