In anticipation of his upcoming beat battle against superproducer Timbaland, Swizz Beatz has linked up with Kendrick Lamar for a promotional video. In the footage, the Compton rapper praises Swizz and reveals that he one day hopes to work with the producer. “Being a student of rap, when I first started rhyming, what I used to do is check the f*cking credits,” Kendrick shares. “This is something that I don’t know, you know, the kids are doing today, but I’m going to explain to you. Checking the credits, this is how I know I wanna work with Swizz Beatz one day. I remember my favorite f*cking beats—checking the credits—say Swizz Beatz on them.”
While Kendrick and Swizz have not officially collaborated yet, the producer’s six-year-old son Egypt has already scored a production credit on Kendrick Lamar’s “untitled 07 1 2014 – 2016” off of the rapper’s untitled umastered. project.
