Here's How You Can Pre-Order the SNES Classic Edition

Keep an eye on the usual suspects when it comes to console drops.

Nintendo, after much speculation, have confirmed the release of the SNES Classic Edition after the discontinuation of its highly coveted but limited NES Classic earlier this year. The standalone mini console will contain 21 games, including masterworks such as Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Yoshi’s Island, and Earthbound, to name a few. The console will hit stores September 29 for $80 USD, but as of now, Nintendo doesn’t plan to continue making it past the holiday season. This means you will have to pre-order the product ahead of time or face paying resellers above retail price when they officially release, akin to a high demand sneaker drop. Here’s a breakdown of all the spots that will have the console for pre-order.

Amazon

The North American Amazon website has a product page for the SNES Classic Edition with a December 29 release date instead of the official September date. There is currently no way to pre-order or purchase the console yet, but you can add it to your wish list to be notified when the page is updated and set up for business.

A wave of pre-orders has come and gone already on the United Kingdom side after it was announced, leaving the system listed as unavailable. So keep a close eye on the product and beat out the resellers before it’s too late.

Best Buy

Despite Best Buy’s page lacking a real description or image of the product, the retailer is known for stocking highly coveted systems like the NES Classic. A “notify me” button is available on the page that’ll let you know when the platform is back in stock.

Walmart

Walmart’s listing is similar to Best Buy, with a notify button that you can use but no ability to actually pre-order the system. Although shipping isn’t available via the site, it’s plausible that this will change once it goes on sale. Otherwise, you may have to take a trip to the store itself to buy it.

GameStop

Surprise! GameStop doesn’t have a product page for the SNES Classic on its website either, but the retailer is still selling the console. Call up your local store and you’ll be able to put your name on a list for stock information. This doesn’t assure a reservation on the system, as GameStop deals on a “first come first” serve basis.

United Kingdom and Australian pre-orders live at select retailers

In the U.K., retailer GAME briefly opened up pre-orders for the Super NES Classic, only for them to immediately sell out. There is currently no information on when it will be re-stocked.

Folks in Australia luckily has a chance to secure an SNES Classic before anyone else. EB Games has pre-orders available for $120 USD on its Australian website, but buyers are limited to a single purchase. JB Hi-Fi has an identical deal, also limiting each customer to a single system, with delivery only available in Australia.
