TIME recently put together a list of the world’s richest people based on the year they were born. The list covers each year from 1917 to 1996, 80 years of wealth that combines for an estimated worth of $1.4 trillion USD or 2% of the U.S. GDP (gross domestic product). They used the 2017 Forbes World’s Billionaires list to start and then cross-referenced each person’s wealth against Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index and cross-checked that with Wealth-X.

Americans make up 38% of the list, Europeans 24% and Asians 20%. Nearly all the Europeans on the list inherited their wealth while 80% of the Asians were self-made. After 1957, the easiest way people made it onto the list was either being born into money or marrying into it.

Check out the 15 most current names and the full list on TIME.
