Karhu Commemorates Finland’s Most Dominant Athlete With New Synchron Classic Silhouette
Kanye’s cosigned label honors track & field athlete Paavo Nurmi.
Finnish sneaker brand Karhu respectfully commemorates one of its very own with this new colorway iteration of the Synchron Classic. Nicknamed “Flying Finn,” Paavo Nurmi is a legendary track & field athlete, who over the course of his illustrious career racked up a slew of accolades including nine Olympic gold medals while setting a staggering 22 world records participating in both 1,500 meters and 20,000 meters distance running. In turn, the sneaker brand celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Paavo Nurmi Games, which attracts top tier athletes to Nurmi’s hometown of Turku, Finland. The shoes itself take on a black and white color scheme and features a leather/mesh composition. Other notable features include a rubberized heel panel with Nurmi’s signature, not to mention the insoles highlighting the Olympian’s many accomplishments. This new design is set to make its debut on May 13 at select stockists worldwide.
