Giggs & XL Recordings Founder/Owner Richard Russell Reference Gil-Scott Heron on "Early This Morning"
South London flows.
Thanks to co-signs from international superstars like Drake, London rapper Giggs‘ career has been skyrocketing in recent years. Continuing to connect with audiences outside of his musical comfort zone, Giggs has linked up with Richard Russell for a standout track off the XL Recordings founder and owner’s debut solo project Close But Not Quite. Titled “Early This Morning,” the track samples Richard Russell’s Gil Scott-Heron collaboration “Me and the Devil” and was brought to life at Russell’s Residence La Revolution studio in London. Besides Giggs, Russell also worked with Ibeyi, Sampha, Wiki, Brian Eno, Mark Ronson, and others for his new Everything is Recorded solo project.
