Sony's New A9 Mirrorless Camera Is a Shutter Speed Demon at 20 FPS
The best Alpha camera yet?

Sony has just unveiled its all-new A9 mirrorless camera under its coveted Alpha franchise. This long-anticipated variant is perhaps the most advanced shooter that the Japanese electronics giant has ever rolled out, especially when it comes to professional sports photography. Are you ready for the specs?
The A9 is equipped with a full-frame stacked CMOS sensor touting 24.2 megapixels, blackout-free continuous shooting at up to 20fps for up to 241 consecutive RAW photos, a maximum shutter speed of 1/32,000 seconds, as well as 693 phase-detect AF points that roughly take up 93 percent of the frame. Not to mention, the device boasts 4K video capture, 5-axis in-body stabilization, dual SD card slots, and Sony even added an ethernet port to the body.
The A7R II’s specs probably can’t even hold a candle to this speed demon. When compared to the A9, the A7R II is devoid of approximately 300 phase-detect AF points, 100,000 ISO and it also has shorter battery life (the A9 offers two times the capacity than the A7R II and preceding cameras). Moreover, another major difference between the two is the size of the sensor/image quality. The A7RII boasts nearly 20 more megapixels than the A9, though, which isn’t extremely important. Quality over quantity, right?
All in all, the A9 is a straight up beast for seasoned shutterbugs. Look out for the Sony A9 to launch stateside on May 25 for approximately $4,500 USD and check out the specs below.
