This could be one of the best documentaries of 2017.
Over the course of several decades, award-winning director, producer and writer David Lynch has crafted the sort of career most artists can only dream of. With the release of films such as Blue Velvet, Eraserhead and Mulholland Drive and the cult-favorite TV program Twin Peaks, Lynch has had such a substantial impact on art and culture that academics, critics and writers are sure to be dedicating think-pieces and books to his work for decades to come. Now, courtesy of directors Jon Nguyen, Olivia Neergaard-Holm and Rick Barne, a new documentary based on David Lynch’s storied existence. Titled David Lynch: The Art Life, the “intimate portrait” piece is a biographical effort that traces Lynch from his childhood beginnings to the sets of his most iconic films, complete with narration from 71-year-old legend himself.
While David Lynch: The Art Life isn’t set to see the light of day until June 9, 2017, you can check out the lead trailer for the film above. For more, keep an eye on the forthcoming Twin Peaks reboot.
