Hood By Air's Shayne Oliver Joins Helmut Lang
Some closure to HBA’s rumored demise.
After unexpectedly canceling its Paris Fashion Week Show in March, Hood By Air has kept fans in a state of limbo regarding the label’s current and future prospects. Earlier today, Business of Fashion reported that HBA’s chief designer Shayne Oliver has been tapped to join Helmut Lang‘s design team. Oliver was recruited by Helmut Lang’s current editor-in-residence Isabella Burley (also the editor-in-chief of DAZED magazine) for a special collection that is set to launch in September 2017. The collection will include both men’s and women’s lines, as well as accessories. The new pairing is reportedly part of series of special collaboration capsules between Helmut Lang and new designers — which most recently included Travis Scott.
As for Hood By Air’s rumored demise, representatives for the label had this to say:
“Shayne is currently focusing his time on the special project with Helmut Lang. As a result, HBA will be continued but is transitioning to accommodate this. We will be releasing more information soon.”
