Disney Wants to Create "Another Decade and a Half of Star Wars Stories" After Episode IX
We can expect more ‘Star Wars’ films at least until 2030.

Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke about the future of the Star Wars franchise, and fans won’t have to worry that it’s going to be ending anytime soon. Iger hinted about the upcoming standalone Han Solo film, saying that it will detail how Solo came to possess the Millenium Falcon and how he met his Wookiee sidekick Chewbacca. He also mentioned that the film will tell fans how Han Solo “discovered his name.”
Additionally, Iger touched upon the future of the franchise. When Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, Episodes 7, 8 and 9 were confirmed in addition to standalone films such as last year’s Rogue One. However, Iger confirmed that Disney is looking at what will come way beyond that, saying that the company is exploring “what could be another decade and a half of Star Wars stories.” Of course, no actual details were revealed, but Disney is aiming to keep the franchise going for the foreseeable future.
Lastly, Iger confirmed that he will be stepping down in 2019, but will remain as a consultant for the entertainment behemoth for three years after that. He notes that he’s serious this time around, after originally planning to retire in 2015 and then in 2016.
