Regarded as one of the most exhilarating and toughest downhill races in urban mountain biking, Valparaiso Cerro Abajo recently completed its 15th event in as many years this past weekend. Held in Chile’s major seaport city Valparaíso, known as The Jewel of the Pacific, thousands of people from around the world gathered to witness the best riders from around the world speed down the streets, stairs, potholes, cobblestones and flower shops of this UNESCO heritage city. This year, Czech rider Tomáš Slavík took home the first place prize by besting out the rest of the field by a little over two seconds.
