After debuting its Spring/Summer 2017 lookbook just last week, WACKO MARIA is set to release its first collaboration of the year. The brand channels its ties to music, a trait that’s evident in PARADISE TOKYO’s vinyl setup and the KILLER TUNES BROADCAST events, for its first major drop of the year by paying homage to legendary reggae artist and producer Lee “Scratch” Perry. The late Kendal, Jamaica native is best known for his innovative studio techniques and is credited as one of the dub music pioneers in the ’60s. He also worked with notable musical acts including the likes of Bob Marley, Junior Murvin, Max Romeo and many others during his time.

The clashing of Japanese references and reggae imagery culminates in a unique design hybrid of sorts, which has been emblazoned on WACKO MARIA staples. Artworks featured include projects such as Kung Fu Meets The Dragon, Jungle Lion, alongside other Perries Records releases. The heavyweight pullover sweatshirts are priced between ¥22,000 JPY (approximately $196 USD) and ¥23,000 JPY (approximately $205 USD), while the coach jackets range from ¥13,000 JPY (approximately $116 USD) to ¥14,000 JPY (approximately $125 USD). All the items will be available for in-store starting February 11 and online beginning February 18.
