Here's How Much It Costs to Win an Oscar
It ain’t cheap.
The 89th Academy Awards have come and gone in the blink of an eye and this year’s award show saw diversity with Viola Davis and Mahershala Ali claiming the award for their supporting roles in Fences and Moonlight respectively. The night wasn’t free from controversy as the award for Best Picture was mistakenly given to Damien Chazelle’s La La Land, only for it to be handed to Moonlight minutes later.
But winning one of those coveted gold Oscars doesn’t come cheap. At an estimated cost of $400 USD to produce one Oscar, it could cost up to $10 million USD just to win one, depending on the movie’s campaign. For example, the cost of sending out special copies of the film to voters is already in the range of $300,000 USD. Check out the video above courtesy of CNN to find out more.
