The latest hotel to catch our eye is this Alila Yangshuo space. Based in Southern China, the retreat was formerly a sugar mill in the 1960s and has now been converted into a hotel that still pays homage to its original purpose.

Alila has a cafe, bar, spa, gallery, library, and a farm-to-table restaurant housed within the building while the outside has a reflective pond. There’s also a leisure concierge team which helps immerse visitors in the local culture by doing anything from mountain climbing to sugar spinning.

You can book the Alila Yangshuo right now from its website. The last hotel we featured was Francis Ford Coppola’s private island getaway, Coral Caye.
