YBN Nahmir's "Rubbin' Off The Paint" Beat Deconstructed by Producer Izak
The lowdown on the viral sensation.
Just yesterday, YBN Nahmir posted on Instagram that he was in dispute with a record label over the ownership of the beat for his viral hit “Rubbin’ Off The Paint.” And now Izak, the producer of the track, has unveiled a video of how he created the beat — interesting timing.
The song that has racked up over 40 million YouTube views was created by the up-and-coming producer while he was still studying in Sweden. In the video, the youngster explains the intricate details behind each aspect of the beat and how he took inspiration from Playboi Carti‘s hit track “Magnolia.” Izak also discusses why he used the Spongebob Squarepants sample at the beginning of the track. Near the end of the video, the producer explains that once Chris Brown retweeted YBN Nahmir’s song, things were about to change in a big way. You can watch the entire Genius-made video above.
In other music news, Kid Cudi’s next album will be entirely produced by Kanye West.
