Taking to Instagram today, adidas Running opened up a shoe design contest via IG’s Poll feature on Stories for the first time ever. Using this open source method for sneaker creation, the design chosen by voters will be brought to life as a limited edition model with only 50 pairs being produced.
Users can choose how they want the popular UltraBOOST silhouette from the Three Stripes to look by simply choosing between two options which include a classic or XENO cage, black or white cage and laces, black or white heel tab, black or white BOOST and black or white outsole. Participants who enter with their votes can then fill out a form and be entered to win one of the numbered pairs.
Philipp Schapitz, director of communications for adidas Running had this to say, “We are a creator brand first and foremost and we want to harness and celebrate the creativity of our social media community. We are excited that for the first time in adidas Running we are using social media to enable creators all over the world to together create a unique design which we will then produce. We believe that customization is the best tool of self-expression and we are looking forward to seeing what our community creates for this iconic silhouette.”
Voting is live now on adidas Running’s Instagram Stories and will close at 5 p.m. tomorrow, November 10.
