Facebook Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of 'Star Trek' With Redesigned Emojis
Boldly go where no emoji has gone before.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the original 1966 Star Trek television show and, to celebrate, Facebook is boldly going where no emoji has gone before, immortalizing the likes of William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy in emoji form.
Introduced today via Facebook Messenger’s Lindsey Shephard on Medium, Facebook’s updated emoji-like “Reactions” have been customized to not only include Shatner and Nimoy, but nods to the more recent Star Trek offerings as well in the form of LeVar Burton’s Geordi and Michael Dorn’s Worf.
American and Canadian Trekkies can use the new “Like,” “Love,” “Haha,” “Wow,” “Sad” and “Angry” Reactions now for a limited time — but only if they were identified by Facebook as Star Trek fans beforehand.
