'Deus Ex: Mankind Divided' Imagines the Oppression of the Mechanically Augmented in 2029
“You can’t kill progress.”
Originally announced back in April of 2015, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is almost here. The latest installment of the cyberpunk Deus Ex series and the first since 2011’s Human Revolution, Mankind Divided is set two years after the Aug Incident of Human Revolution and imagines a pervasive “climate of fear and resentment” and one further characterized by an escalation in crime and acts of terror thanks to the oppression of the mechanically augmented. Naturally, this is problem for star Adam Jensen of the hacker group Juggernaut as he and Interpol look to confront the shadowy Illuminati and the era of “mechanical apartheid” they helped create. As per usual, the action RPG’s first-person perspective and third-person cover system return at the hands of Eidos Montreal and Square Enix.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is due out August 23 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows.
