Twitter Opens up Online Applications to Become a Verified User

Twitter has opened up an online application for any user to become a verified account. A verified account is marked by a small blue check mark next to their handle, asserting their position as a figure of public interest. Verification is usually reserved for celebrities, politicians, athletes and organizations. To complete the application, users must provide a verified phone number and email address, bio, profile picture, birthday and website.
