Petrolicious Features a 1960 BMW R60 Shared by a Father and Son
A professional stuntman and his dad’s love for a timeless classic.
In the latest episode of Petrolicious, a father and son discuss their special bond over a 1960 BMW R60 motorcycle. The intimate six-minute clip features Tom McComas, a professional stuntman who enjoys taking the bike out for a ride on the Pacific Coast Highway in Calfornia. “This bike is about history, it’s about my dad…it’s about what started a life-long passion for motorcycles, it’s what launched a career,” McComas said. The stuntman’s father also relayed how he bought the R60 for a mere $550 USD immediately after being discharged from the military. The vintage Beamer has gone through various paint jobs, modifications and it was also once equipped with a sidecar.
The younger McComas has since restored the bike to its original makeup and is loving how the R60 just “floats” over the road without any problems. “Wherever I drive, there’s a part of him riding with me; if it wasn’t for my dad and this motorcycle…motorcycles have been with me ever since, because of my dad,” he said.
