Making music is a non-stop process — inspiration can strike at any time during the day or night, so having the right setup to execute your vision is super important. A student musician’s room, be it a dorm or an apartment, needs to be a place that not only inspires, but is functional enough to be a workspace for developing your ideas. It must be a space where you can set up all of your equipment and still leave room to store your music, whether analog or digital. Most importantly, you need bed for those times you need to rest your eyes after an all-night beat-making session.

In part 2 of our series with IKEA, HYPEBEAST has built out a combination production studio, sound lab, and reference library — giving a musician everything they need at their fingertips. The room is centered around the LISABO table workstation and the KALLAX shelves double as the stand for your turntables and your music catalog. Modern and minimalistic KNOPPÄNG picture ledges display your rare vinyl LPs, while your complete collection sits below. The look is finished off with guitars, artwork and even a rack to keep your cables and headphones organized. Check out the whole space in the video above, and shop the IKEA Back to College website to customize your own musician’s space. Below is the list of the pieces used to trick out this room, so use it as a reference when it comes time to build your own.
