The House of Peroni Returns to London for a Celebration of All Things Italian
Enjoy world-class eats and award-winning cocktails in designer surroundings beside the canal.
Think of Italy, and one of many images may come to mind. Perhaps you think up Italian coffee and gelatos on the sun-kissed coast, or bright red sports cars racing over twisting mountain roads. Perhaps you think of that dream hand-tailored suit, or a dominating international football team. Sure, we get all of those, but before anything else, we think of food: heaven-sent spaghetti bolognese, slices of meaty salami, head-sized meatballs and the overlord of all dinners, the pizza. This one-track mind is precisely why we’re excited to hear that The House of Peroni has returned to London this month.
Emerging from the canalside in Haggerston, the iconic Italian lager brand Peroni Nastro Azzurro is back in the English capital city for a six-week residency to celebrate everything that makes Italy truly stylish — and that includes some unbelievable eats. Inside a space designed by Margherita Maccapani Missoni, of the Missoni design dynasty, Peroni Nastro Azzurro has joined forces with Francesco Mazzei (Chef Patron at Sartoria in London’s Mayfair) to serve up a taste of southern Italy with his trademark ‘Mezzogiorno’ cooking style. A private dining experience enjoying Mazzei’s dishes will set you back £65 per person, and promises five courses including home-cured duck salami, burratta tortellini and roasted lamb.
The residency’s events don’t stop at the fork, though. Visitors can take advantage of the space’s floating Negroni bar and sample cocktails crafted by award-winning mixologist Simone Caporale; master the Italian ritual of aperitivo making; get to grips with the inspiration behind Missoni’s interior design; or take part in a pasta class in which you’ll learn how to make the Italian staple from scratch. Or, if you just want to drop by and enjoy the space, visitors are welcome for free.
