Flaunt your colors.

Butterfly wings are a thing of beauty, allowing the creatures to flaunt their colors to others in the vicinity, much like a pocket square that adds flair to the outfit of a dapper gent. Taking this relationship quite literally is fashion start-up Novel Fineries, which creates handmade butterfly wing “pocket art” using a traditional Chinese double-sided embroidery technique. Replicating the exact details of the wings of 50 butterfly species, the wings are created by hand-embroidering the iridescent patterns on a piece of silk, while blank spaces are delicately shaded in by hand with paint. The “pocket art” is then packaged in a wooden box with a glass lid, much like the method of preserving butterfly specimens for scientific purposes. Take a look at the debut collection above, and find more information online here.
