Watch This Stuntman Attempt a Blind Backflip Over a Speeding Racecar
Absolutely mental.
In an effort to drum up interest in Formula E—racing’s electric-only class—stuntman Damien Walters agreed to backflip a speeding race-car in Mexico City. However, unlike previous backflip stunts, Walters did the stunt blind; that is, he backflipped over a car that he could not see approaching, ergo ramping the danger up by a factor of 10, at the very least. Walters’s preparation for the stunt included several dry runs of the car speeding by the stuntman in parallel, allowing him to experiment with different timing. A clock visible to Walters allowed him to time his jump perfectly relative to the death-trap speeding toward him at 60 mph.
