Tobias Rehberger Transforms Hong Kong's MCM Flagship Into a Reality-Bending Art Installation

Set to coincide this week with Hong Kong’s premier art event, Art Basel, German luxury accessories label MCM has embarked on a radical transformation of its flagship store in Central district by reupholstering the entire premises according to the vision of renowned contemporary artist Tobias Rehberger. Known for his visually striking geometric style inspired by World War One-era camouflage patterns, the Venice Biennale Golden Lion winner covered every inch of the interior in his trademark “Dazzle” pattern, which mirrored the same motif on his custom-designed limited edition collection for Spring/Summer 2016. The installation is titled If You Want the Rainbow, You Gotta Put Up With the Rain, and saw over 700 influencers walk through its doors in an exclusive event last night. Open to the public until May 2, the installation can also be experienced at three other MCM flagship stores worldwide in Seoul, Shanghai and Frankfurt.
