Wood stoves and fireplaces aren’t usually regarded as the most flexible of home fixtures, but Philippe Starck has injected new life into heating furniture with his modular SPEETBOX design. Created specifically for SPEETA — an eco-friendly French wood stove specialist — the iconic designer’s SPEETBOX by STARCK is a high-performance heating solution comprised of cuboid units that can be arranged in myriad configurations.

Modules include fire and electronic options, as well as cubes for rocks, books or seating, while a corresponding Android app enables the user to control the system from a distance. SPEETBOX, more importantly, is said to be vastly more energy-efficient than conventional wood burning stoves and traditional fireplaces, while also promoting cleaner combustion. Take a look at Philippe Starck’s customizable heating furniture above, and look for an eventual release from SPEETA.
