Mortal Kombat X e-Sports League Cashes out With a $500,000 USD Prize Pool
Time to put those button-mashing skills to good use.
e-Sports is here to stay, a fact that has been further underlined by an announcement by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment that it is launching a Mortal Kombat X league in April that will carry a sizeable prize pool of $500,000 USD. Headlining the program is the ESL Pro League Tournament for Xbox One players, which is open to the public and will climax in a final involving the best eight players, who will play in front of a live audience for winnings from a $200,000 USD prize pool. At the same time, tournaments across North America, Europe, Russia and Latin America will be held in conjunction by Warner Bros., also drawing from the main prize pool.
Sign-ups will begin online on April 3, and the tournament will air the final round on June 12. In the meantime, check out the spectacularly bloody announcement trailer above.
