Phoebe Philo May Not Be Leaving Céline After All
Philo and Céline “are more motivated and committed than ever…”

Remember the unexpected news last week that Phoebe Philo would be departing Céline? Well apparently that may not be the case after all. According to WWD, the British designer and French fashion house are set to continue their collaboration, putting to bed the rampant speculation around a potential split. This week employees were reassured of Philo’s stay as an internal memo — signed by both Philo and chief executive officer Marco Gobbetti — was circulated stating that the two “are more motivated and committed than ever to their partnership and will continue to create beautiful products.”
As WWD points out, speculation about Philo’s exit began percolating last year and reached a boiling point on February 4 when The Fashion Law reported that she would indeed be departing following the unveiling of Céline’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection. Given the exits of designers like Raf Simons and Alber Elbaz from Dior and Lanvin, respectively, in recent months, Philo’s split from Céline seemed probable to say the least.
Philo and Céline fans will get to see the latest fruits of their partnership when their Fall/Winter 2016 runway show hits Paris March 6.
