PlayStation 4 Obliterates Sales Benchmark Originally Set by PS3
Black Friday sales sure helped.
Sony’s PlayStation 4 has destroyed a benchmark set by its older brother PS3. In just over three years, the PS4 has sold over 50 million units; the same amount took four and a half years for its predecessor to reach. This figure includes PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS4 Slim and reflects sales to customers and not shipments to stores. Black Friday sales probably helped and as Christmas approaches, this number is sure to rise even further. As of December 4, Sony has reported 369.6 million games sold across retail and digital downloads, that equates to about seven games per console. There are no firm analytics for PlayStation VR sales or exact PS4 Pro figures at this time.
