Facebook Messenger Launches Split-Screen Group Video Chat
Snapchat-esque selfie filters included.
After unveiling its “Instant Games” feature at the end of November, Facebook Messenger is back with another new feature — split-screen group video chat. The function will allow six users to chat with each other with an option to rock Snapchat-esque selfie masks while up to 50 other people can listen and send the usual text, emojis, GIFs or stickers. Rolling out worldwide on iOS, Android and web starting December 19, the feature will be the first widely-used western messaging app with group video chat beating out competitors like Apple’s FaceTime/iMessage. Check out the demo above and let us know if this will be your new go-to video chatting app.
