Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole Collaborative Album Exists, Says Ab-Soul
“They been working on that motherfucker for awhile”
During an interview with The Breakfast Club today, Ab-Soul laid to rest all the rumors regarding the long-awaited Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole collaborative album. Ab-Soul was there to promote his latest album DWTW and Charlamagne couldn’t help but ask Ab-Soul if he has “a feature on the Kendrick/Cole album.” Ab-Soul responded by saying “I can’t speak on that. I wish I could. I don’t really know too much about it. I just hope they use my verse.” When Charlemagne asked again if there was a Kendrick/Cole album, Ab-Soul confirmed, saying “There is a Kendrick/Cole album. They got it. They got something in the works. They been working on that motherfucker for awhile.”
Lamar and Cole have been on and off about the project for a few years now. The last time Lamar and Cole shared a headline was when they released a pair of freestyles on Black Friday last year, also gifting fans with remixes on each other’s songs from their albums To Pimp a Butterfly and Forest Hills Drive. Cole rapped over Kendrick’s “Alright” while Kendrick tried his hand at “A Tale of 2 Citiez.”
