Too Hot Limited's "La Dolce Vita" Editorial Nods to an '80s Italian Subculture
Featuring forgotten pieces from Stone Island and Moncler.
For Fall/Winter 2016, London’s curator of “iconic cultural artefacts” Too Hot Limited has teamed up with LAW magazine for an editorial short that pays homage to the Italian Paninaro subculture. Named after a group of youths that met at the Panino cafe in Milan during the 1980s, the Paninaro scene embraced globalized consumerism and materialism — such as hamburgers, San Pellegrinos and international fashion brands — in a country that honoured home-cooking and hand-made goods. Its members identified as wealthy children who loved flashy designer clothes like the Moncler and Stone Island pieces featured in the editorial. “So you’d see groups of kids in one town all wearing Best Company, in another town they’d all be in Moncler and somewhere else they’d be in Stone Island and CP Company…that’s something that we tried to represent here, with the group shots and the way the outfits are put together,” commented Too Hot Limited’s Ollie Evans on the styling direction. A selection of the vintage pieces in the editorial will be available for purchase at Too Hot Limited on November 25 at 7:00AM EST.
