The First Trailer for Martin Scorsese's 'Silence' Is Here
Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver and Liam Neeson star in Scorsese’s first film since ‘The Wolf of Wall Street.’
Martin Scorsese is finally returning to the big screen for the first time since 2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street with the highly anticipated Silence. Based on Shusaku Endo’s 1966 novel of the same name (which was previously adapted for film by Masahiro Shinoda in 1971), Silence takes on feudal Japan as its backdrop and stars Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver and Liam Neeson. Set in the 17th century, the film follows two young Portuguese Jesuit priests (Garfield and Driver) as they head to the Pacific to locate their mentor (Neeson) after he goes missing on a Christian missionary trip to the East Asian isles.
Expected to be a major player at next year’s Oscars, Silence is set to hit theaters December 23.
