Young Thug Reveals Fashion Always Came Before Rap in Extensive Interview
Thugger says he “did it for the weird ones.”
Young Thug and Gucci Mane are the cover stars of Fall 2016’s issue of XXL magazine. In anticipation of their cover story, the Atlanta rapper sat down with Editor-in-Chief Vanessa Satten for an in-depth, 12-minute interview. Thugger speaks on a variety of topics in the conversation, including his fashion sense, Gucci Mane’s mentorship, his latest release JEFFERY, and more. Thug also reveals that fashion comes before rap because while he was growing up, it was what he focused on and found expertise in — rap music came after in his life and is less of a natural process. “I didn’t do it for people to understand me. I did it for the weird ones,” he shares. “I want to bring out encouragement to young people who want to do it, but were kinda scared.” Watch the interview above to learn more about Young Thug’s world of fashion and music.
