New York Knicks' Derrick Rose Found "Not Liable" in Sexual Assault Case
The former NBA MVP can now move on.

The Derrick Rose off-court drama has come to a conclusion. New York Knicks’ new point guard has officially been held not liable in a civil suit that accused the athlete and two colleagues of gang-rape involving Rose’s ex-girlfriend. Claiming that it happened back in 2013, the former Chicago Bulls star’s accuser aimed for $21.5 million USD during the case which reached a final decision in Los Angeles. Both sides did not deny that the men indeed had sex with Rose’s ex — its main source of conflict was the act of consent or level of intoxication to further give consent.
According to ESPN, “defense lawyers painted the woman as a liar who tried to sway jurors through her tears to get at Rose’s fortune.” As cases of this manner harm many factor’s of an athlete’s personal and business image, adidas provided a statement post-verdict in support of Rose stating “Our partnership with Derrick Rose remains unchanged.”
As a closing moment of this chapter in Derrick Rose’s life, the former MVP expressed a sense of relief to the Associated Press by saying “I am thankful that the jury understood and agreed with me. This experience and my sensitivity to it was deep. I am ready to put this behind me and focus on my family and career.”
