Mafia III is the latest open-world action video game to hit the market. As a character in the digital landscape built by 2K, you drive and fight your way to victory by building a criminal empire across a city that bears striking resemblance to NOLA — an exciting departure from the usual roster of go-to video game cities like New York, London and Tokyo.
Inspired by the Big Easy’s distinctive cultural identity that blends French, Caribbean, and Southern American traditions as well as its placement at the heart of Mafia III, HYPEBEAST linked up with local rapper Curren$y to take us on a drive through the city. Along the way, our city tour stopped at some of his favorite haunts including Sneaker Politics to grab some kicks and We Dat’s for some chicken. Then, before parting ways, he made sure to take us through Jet Lounge at the House of Blues to show us some of the New Orleans nightlife that earned the city its hall of fame party city reputation.
