Louis Vuitton Celebrates Paris in Its 2016 Fall/Winter Collection
A poignant tribute by Kim Jones.
Kim Jones chose to honor the City of Lights in his latest menswear presentation — given the recent events in Paris, the designer’s visual celebration was particularly poignant. According to Jones, it was never meant to be intentional, having planned the collection since May — nonetheless, the Ohmaki Shinji-designed, luminescent cloud fixture perched above the runway only further reflected an uplifting message.
The collection was modern Parisian elegance reinvented — in a juxtaposition of bold prints against textures, roketsu-dyed patterns and graphics bearing “volez voguez voyagez” were applied to denim and leather alike. Amongst offerings of silk trench coats and fur topcoats belted with pelts, berets further intensified the Parisian flavor. Cut in shades of black, gray and ivory alongside green, navy and beige accents, the collection was a masterful tribute.
